The grapes in this blend from one of
Australia’s most beloved wineries are crushed
by foot to extract only the gentlest tannins.
What You Need To Know
Though the vineyards of d’Arenberg
date back to before 1912, the wines have become famous in
the last 20 years under Chester Osborn, son of “d’Arry” (as France
d’Arrenberg Osborn was called) and one of the world’s great
wine personalities. Chester’s wit and intelligence shine through
in the wines. Here he lightly skewers the Bordelais garagiste
trend, since this Bordeaux blend, like all d’Arenberg reds, is foottrod
and basket-pressed in the winery’s old galvanized steel
shed (hence “Galvo”).
Black currant, blueberry
and a pleasant leafiness.
Tight, with cherry pie and
Cool room temperature.
Short ribs, leg of lamb,
standing rib roast.
