Poliziano is one of the elite names in
Montepulciano, an ancient, prestigious
subzone of Tuscany’s Chianti region.
What You Need To Know
Established in 1961, Poliziano is
a young estate in a tiny Tuscan region that’s been famous for
its wines since the 16th century, when the cellarmaster of
Pope Paul III praised the quality of reds from the hilltop town of
Montepulciano. Poliziano’s classic bottling showcases the
fragrant, full-bodied cherry flavors that characterize Prugnolo
Gentile, a local clone of Sangiovese, the signature grape of
Tuscany. Superstar consultants Carlo Ferrini (cellar) and Maurizio
Castelli (vineyards) have helped shape Poliziano’s wines, which is
just one reason why the estate ranks among Tuscany’s greatest.
