From a remote corner of Spain comes
a savory red that’s an ideal companion for
roasted meats and fresh wild herbs.
What You Need To Know
Even in Spain, little is known about
the remote, rural region of Extremadura, deep in Spain’s southwest
corner. Famed for its rugged beauty and irresistible serrano ham
(made from acorn-eating, free-range black pigs), the region is now
developing a reputation for wine. The foundations for Peña del
Valle were laid in the middle of the last century, when Jorge García
de la Peña planted his first vines here. Today, the family-run
business has grown and is helping to put Extremadura on the map.
