Bursting with citrus and mineral flavors,
this white is a textbook example of Albariño,
arguably Spain’s greatest white grape.
What You Need To Know
The lush, green river valleys
of Galicia, on Spain’s Atlantic coast, look more like Ireland than
Spain, with drizzly wet weather to match. Its native grapes are
perfectly adapted to the cool, damp climate, and its crisp white
wines pair deliciously with seafood. The best-known of these
is Albariño, the focus of the boutique O Rei de Campoverde label.
Working out of a 1762 stone farmhouse that was completely
renovated a few years ago, this family-owned estate produces
a single Albariño each year. Cool fermentation and gentle
handling of the hand-picked grapes create a vibrant, layered
white with superb focus to its laser-pure flavors.
Exuberant lemon-lime scents.
Crisp and zesty, with tangy
grapefruit and guava flavors.
