Eric Dunham became famous for superb Cabernet and Syrah; this complex Riesling shows his talent with white grapes, too.
What You Need To Know
Like a lot of young winemakers, the late Eric Dunham honed his talents on a dual track—apprenticing to an established vintner by day while moonlighting with his own label by night. Unlike many, he soon quit his day job, thanks to a string of incredibly successful Dunham Cellars reds. In just a few years, Dunham became a legitimate star, with estate vineyards in the Walla Walla and Columbia valleys, a range of acclaimed bottlings and even a joint line of wines with actor Kyle MacLachlan (of Desperate Housewives and Twin Peaks fame). This citrus-inflected Riesling comes from a single vineyard in the foothills of Columbia Valley’s Rattlesnake Hills.
