The bold Southern French blend combines
three grape varieties to create a seamless, sunwarmed
red redolent of plums and spice.
What You Need To Know
Domaine de la Croix Ronde is part
of a wave of small, quality-focused producers that transformed
France’s vast Languedoc region over the last few decades into a
bargain-hunter’s paradise. The combination of old vines, ambitious
winemaking and under-the-radar locations—like the Haute Vallée
de l’Orb, where Domaine de la Croix Ronde is located—
translates into a wealth of good (and sometimes great) wines at
equally good prices. Vintner Francois Pottier bought his 30-acre
estate more than two decades ago. Located in the foothills of the
Massif Central, its vines benefit from the region’s higher altitude,
which moderates the south’s blazing summer sun.
Smoky, spicy plum scents.
Rich and round, with
and currant flavors.
Cellar temperature—the bottle should be
cool to the touch.
Red meats and game: stews,
steaks, chops and roasts.
