This spicy Rhône white comes from a
winemaking family that’s been important
in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for centuries.
What You Need To Know
Like all Châteauneuf-du-Pape whites,
this cuvée from Domaine Juliette Avril is made from a blend of
traditional grape varieties, chiefly Grenache Blanc and
Roussanne. The Avril name is one of the oldest in Châteauneuf;
they actually helped establish the official boundaries and rules of
the wine region in the 1920s. Domaine Juliette Avril is a
matriarchy of sorts, with winemaker Marie Lucile Brun having
succeeded her mother Juliette Avril in 1988. Brun sources this
plump white from five acres of estate-grown vines, and makes it
in a style that emphasizes the wine’s lush, perfumy side.
Honeyed peach and
Soft and lush, with vibrant
apricot and ginger notes.
Pork, poultry, veal
or rich, meaty fish.
