What You Need To Know
Founded in 1970, Brokenwood, one of Australia's most highly regarded wineries, made its first white wines when winemaker Ian Riggs was brought on in 1982. Since then it has produced a distinctively racy, classic style of Semillon. Located north of Sydney, the Hunter Valley's wine history dates back to 1828. Though the climate is quite warm, Semillon grapes are picked early to make relatively low-alcohol wines that hum with crisp acidity when young and develop golden, toasty flavors with age.
