What You Need To Know
First released in 1987, Joseph Grilli’s
Moda is an idiosyncratic red blend. Instead of ripe, fruity Shiraz—the calling card red of McLaren Vale—Moda features hand-picked
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. And somehow, despite the fact
that Grilli concentrates the ripe grapes after harvest by partially
raisining them, the wine is neither sweet tasting nor heavy.
There’s a stylish, herb-inflected edge and a brightness to its
currant flavors that make this one of the more intriguing—and
delicious—Australian reds around.
Cherries, mint and cedar.
Lush currant flavors
with cigar box spice.
Cellar temperature—the bottle should be
cool to the touch.
Game or lamb.
