This racy, seafood-friendly white wine
hails from the Italian island of Sardinia,
a top source of superb Vermentino.
What You Need To Know
Antonella Ledà d’Ittiri is a newly
minted winemaker from old Sardinian nobility. Seventeen years
ago, she bought 45 acres on the island’s northwest peninsula
and planted them to grapes and olives, which she now farms
with her daughter Annamaria. They make their Vermentino in a
crisply modern style, fermenting it in stainless steel (not oak) to
preserve its citrusy freshness. It’s a technique that enhances
Vermentino’s incredible versatility with food—especially seafood.
Antonella calls it “Vi Marí’”—meaning “sea wine” in Catalan—in
honor of both its pairing possibilities and its seaside origins.
Orange and pear scents
with a light almond edge.
Juicy and lightly tropical, with
tangy apricot and floral notes.
Fantastic with a vast array
of seafood dishes, from tart
to herby to creamy.
