From a single vineyard located near the Sonoma town of Healdsburg, this Cabernet gets its cedary notes from long barrel-aging.
What You Need To Know
It's probably a safe bet that most projects dreamed up by three friends in a bar late on a Friday night never get off the ground. But when two of those friends are Napa vintners, the third a can-do businessperson and the idea is to create a new wine label, implementation is easier than you'd think. That's the origin of Toolbox Wine Company, the joint creation of Katie Hamilton Schaffer and vintners Thrace Bromberger and Nancy Otton. The trio makes Toolbox wine at Bromberger's small winery in southern Napa, GustavoThrace, and sources grapes from their network of Napa vintner friends. This is their inaugural vintage of Toolbox Cabernet, made in a lot of less than 1,000 cases from Sonoma Valley fruit.
Cedary currant and cinnamon notes.
A few years of aging have softened its oaky black cherry and vanilla flavors.
Cellar temperature--the bottle should be cool to the touch.
Steaks, burgers, chops, stews and ragouts.
