The secret weapon behind this Australian Cabernet is Ben Riggs, a star winemaker with a knack for crafting overachieving reds.
What You Need To Know
Located just south of Adelaide, McLaren Vale's lush, rolling vineyards produce some of Australia's top reds. Shiraz is its flagship grape, but thanks to its bay-cooled climate, McLaren Vale’s Cabernets compete with Australia’s best, too. And few winemakers know the region better than Ben Riggs, who has spent decades exploring McLaren Vale’s byways in search of perfect grapes, first for the acclaimed Wirra Wirra winery and later as a consultant to numerous labels. Riggs sourced this wine in part from vineyards once planted by Thomas Goss, a McLaren Vale pioneer who settled in the region in the 1850s.
