In this luscious Syrah, a group of crafty winemakers from Down Under give the Aussie treatment to California fruit.
What You Need To Know
Stickybeak is an Aussie term meaning a curious or nosy person. These stickybeaks are a group of Australians working in Napa who are satisfying their curiosity about the vineyards they don't get to work with by making these wines. The winemaker is Wayne Donaldson, of Domaine Chandon fame, and here he's employed a common Aussie practice rarely seen in the US--blending grapes from different regions. This wine contains mostly Napa Valley fruit but adds a little from the cooler Edna Valley for spicy lift.
Dried beef and blackberry jam.
Black cherries and herbed olives.
Decant for 30 minutes, then serve at cool room temperature.
