This Rhône-style white comes from a microwinery located in an industrial neighborhood across the bay from San Francisco.
What You Need To Know
Spouses Melinda Doty and Rich Williams made wine in their garage for years before they left corporate jobs to found the tiny Stage Left Cellars in Oakland, California. Now, Williams makes wine and Doty manages sales and marketing. Among other grapes, the duo is obsessed with Rhône varieties. This peach-scented blend features three white grapes of the Rhâne, combining floral, luscious Viognier with silky Grenache Blanc and a touch of herb-tinged Roussanne. Unlike a lot of California Rhône-style whites, this one has plenty of snap and acidity. That’s a deliberate stylistic choice: Williams and Doty prefer bright, food-friendly wines with minimal to no oak flavors. They made fewer than 300 cases of this succulent blend.
