Napa Valley is best known for red wines,
but this exuberant Sauvignon Blanc shows
it creates terrific, refreshing whites, too.
What You Need To Know
This incredibly aromatic Sauvignon
Blanc comes from an organically farmed hillside vineyard in
Napa’s Pope Valley. Sauvignon Blanc vineyards—especially those
on hillsides—are comparatively rare in Napa, where prime acreage
gets devoted chiefly to more prestigious (and pricey) red grapes
like Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2011, Alta’s Fred and Nina Oliai
purchased enough fruit from it to make just 400 cases of this wine,
the white counterpart to their estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon.
Its prime origins show in the intensity of its citrus flavors.
Bright melon and citrus
Crisp, zesty tropical fruit
flavors have a hint of
Light fish and chicken dishes,
shellfish, salads, goat cheese.
