Star winemaker Paul Hobbs helped Riglos
founders Darío Werthein and Fabián Suffern
create their dream Mendoza vineyard.
What You Need To Know
Prominent banker Dario Werthein
and his colleague Fabian Suffern were friends for decades before
they discovered that their grandparents had grown up in the same
small Argentinean town of Riglos. In 2002, they teamed up with
US winemaker Paul Hobbs (best known for his culty $250 Napa
Cabernets) to plant grapes in Tupungato, some of Mendoza’s best
wine terrain. Tupungato is located in the foothills of the Andes,
where crystalline air and strong sunlight get grapes perfectly ripe.
Crisp mountain nights helped give this Malbec its terrific balance.
Fashioned by winemaker Juan Carlos Pulqui Rodriguez Villa, it’s
rich and round, but not too ripe.
Plummy violet and
Lush black plum and
menthol flavors with
Cellar temperature—the bottle should be
cool to the touch.
Red meats and anything
that’s been barbecued.
