McNab Ridge owner John Parducci
comes from one of California’s pioneering Italian-American
winemaking families, a group that helped popularize Zinfandel in
the US. One of the state’s great sources of old-vine Zin is
Mendocino County, located just north of Sonoma on the
California coast. Generally cooler than counties to the south and
inland, Mendocino typically produces fresher, firmer Zinfandels
than those warmer regions. This bottling, which comes from a
hillside site near the town of Ukiah, offers all of the exuberant,
ripe berry fruit expected of a Zin, along with structure and spice.
Aging the wine in new French oak for 17 months gives it a luscious
and raspberry scents.
