Winemaker Rich Parducci crafted only nine barrels of this intense, blackberry-scented Zinfandel.
What You Need To Know
McNab Ridge owner John Parducci comes from one of California’s pioneering Italian-American winemaking families, a group that helped popularize Zinfandel in the US. One of the state’s great sources of old-vine Zin is Mendocino County, located just north of Sonoma on the California coast. Generally cooler than counties to the south and inland, Mendocino typically produces fresher, firmer Zinfandels than those warmer regions. This bottling, which comes from a hillside site near the town of Ukiah, offers all of the exuberant, ripe berry fruit expected of a Zin, along with structure and spice. Aging the wine in new French oak for 17 months gives it a luscious mocha note.
