Northern California’s cool 2010 vintage shows in the fresh, spicy f lavors of this organically grown Pinot Noir.
What You Need To Know
Los Carneros, where this Pinot Noir comes from, is a subzone of both Napa and Sonoma counties. Its rolling hills straddle the larger regions’ southern tips, where sea-chilled winds from the San Pablo Bay create a zone perfect for coolclimate varietals like Pinot Noir. Winemaker Suzanne Hagins— who has worked at prestigious, Pinot-focused labels such as David Bruce and DeLoach—uses only organically grown grapes for her small-lot wines. In 2010, she sourced enough fruit from a Carneros vineyard to make just four barrels of this wine, then aged it in mostly neutral oak barrels to highlight its delicate fruit and spice flavors.
