Los Carneros, where this Pinot Noir
comes from, is a subzone of both Napa and Sonoma counties.
Its rolling hills straddle the larger regions’ southern tips, where
sea-chilled winds from the San Pablo Bay create a zone perfect for coolclimate
varietals like Pinot Noir. Winemaker Suzanne Hagins—
who has worked at prestigious, Pinot-focused labels such as
David Bruce and DeLoach—uses only organically grown grapes
for her small-lot wines. In 2010, she sourced enough fruit from a
Carneros vineyard to make just four barrels of this wine, then aged
it in mostly neutral oak barrels to highlight its delicate fruit and
Aromatic and spicy, with
cherry and herb scents.
