A brawny blend of Shiraz and Petite Sirah,
this full-bore Australian red pairs
fantastically with spicy, smoky grilled meats.
What You Need To Know
Seattle-based importer Benjamin
Hammerschlag has gained a reputation for seeking out some of
Australia’s best small-production wines. His Flegenheimer Bros.
Reserve Red is a bespoke creation: Hammerschlag has the wine
custom-made for him by Ben Glaetzer, one of Australia’s brightest
young winemaking stars, from a single vineyard in McLaren Vale.
Located in the coastal mountains south of Adelaide, McLaren
Vale is one Australia’s top red wine zones. Glaetzer aged luscious
Shiraz and bold, tannic Petite Sirah in barrels for nearly two years,
keeping the varietals separate, then blended them before bottling.
Ripe raspberry, with
a whiff of eucalyptus.
and spice flavors.
Cellar temperature—the bottle should be
cool to the touch.
