Made by a master craftsman, this juicy Barbera comes from the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains.
What You Need To Know
Chaim Gur-Arieh, a native of Istanbul and the founder of C.G. Di Arie (along with his wife, Elisheva), knows flavor. Prior to starting the winery, he worked for big food companies creating the flavors and textures we’ve all had in various famous breakfast cereals, salad dressings and energy bars. Next he founded his own flavor company, which he later sold. He sources fruit from top vineyards in California’s Sierra Foothills region, which he then makes into wine using several ingenious methods that he invented himself. Barbera, the workhorse grape of Italy’s Piedmont, becomes rich and deeply savory in this bottling; it’s blended with a touch of Zinfandel for spice. The result speaks for itself: deep, precise flavors delivered on an artfully smooth and well-honed palate.
